Major symptoms for me were depression, brainfog and insomnia. Cymbalta just made me stupider.
Given what seems to actually be helping, I am concluding that my "FM" is actually hypothyroidism (which I've suspected for YEARS). Iodine has helped, and T3, in just three weeks, has made a huge difference.
I just hope it continues.
I know that this article was written primarily for FM but after reading the two other posts on the combination of taking Cymbalta and Lyrica together, as one who has undergone four low back surgeries, I would like to write of my very positive experience with this combination. Along with some chronic low back pain, I have had a problem with neuropathic pain especially in my legs and feet especially while laying down which has in the past, which has made trying to sleep a nightmare.
Chronic pain also wears a person out over time. I’ve had much more severe pain, but this daily nagging nerve pain also causes fatigue and depression. I’m a 50 year old male and my work with network admins requires a clear head and unfortunately a lot of sitting which can be hard with low back pain. The combination of Cymbalta and Lyrica has been a Godsend for me!! The combination at least for me, helps better than even the strong narcotics without all the ramifications associated with opiate pain meds. PM doctors have had me on all sorts of strong painkillers in the past including methadone. Again, none of the opiates I’ve been prescribed over the years has worked so well in decreasing the nerve pain and chronic low back pain as well as this combination. My very best wishes to all who live with chronic pain.
The cymbalta made me worse. I had suicidal thoughts, my pain was worse and I saw little lights frequently. From the information I received prior to taking it, I was looking forward to returning to some kind of normalcy in my life. I also gained 15 pounds!! From the testimonies I had read, it was the norm to lose weight. I haven't tried the other drugs as they're not covered by my drug plan.
