YES a good mattress is a must. I got a memory foam mattress few months back and it helped so much in cutting the pain I had in the morning. I could not stay in bed past 5 am. because of the pain , now, I am not up before 8. I love to read before closing the light for the night, I use a very dim light so it helps to get to that safe place to fall asleep, and with my bet friend the CPAP I have good nights sleep.

So far I haven't seen any mention of Melatonin. When I read that we produce less of it as we age I decided to try a supplement. Once I had, oh-so-slowly, established the optimum dose for me, it helped. I found out the hard way that I do have to double the dose when I have a migraine (now *there's* some research to be done as to why.) Melatonin is helping me fall asleep, but not stay asleep. I tried the time-release variety for a while, but that didn't seem to make any difference at all.
