This is a scary scenario for those in NY who depend on their medications for medical stabilization. Thanks for sharing this info Karen, it is a service to those who live there!

Once again, people other than our doctors are practicing medicine. This is unbelievable and absolutely outrageous!

My private insurance has restrictions on some meds as well. It's mainly due to high high cost of these drugs with no generics yet. They aren't saying you can't have the meds. just that you're going to have to pay for it.

the cost of lyrica, cymbalta dn the the new savella are off the charts in price so it's no wonder they have made restrictions. a months supply of lyrica 75 mg 2 x's daily cost over 350.00 a month!!  to make matters worse that medication is poison for i was one that took it since 2005 and it took my sight, withdrawal is horrible, fda has just added several more side effects to this med. i came off of it and treating with what my insurance will pay and not robbing them of paying for a med that ruins peoples lifes. pfizer's scientist is serving jail time for falsifying all reports he claim he had done and weren't done at all.  tho it will be hard to find something else and ones may have more pain but they will be far better off not being on it.  take it from one that has experiencd it.

Wow, wonder how it is still legally on the market?

I feel so bad for the people who depend on these medications for pains and can't afford them.  I am on Cymbalta myself and even with medical insurance through my husband's work, I still pay a $50 co-pay.  Add this in with the 10 or so other meds I take for other health issues I have and it all adds up, even with the co-pays.  I cannot imagine having no insurance or medicaid at all and needing pain medications.

Also, a side note, I tried Lyrica and had terrible side effects and had to stop it immediately.

What can be done for these poor people?

I too had a terrible reaction to Lyrica. My chest and neck and throat became bright red and I felt like I was on fire. I have no other med. Allergies so this was really scary. I think The drug company is squeezing every last penny they can while they can from Lyrica. Wouldn't be surprised to see a recall in the future.
