You probably know Jennifer Grey best from her starring role as Frances “Baby” Houseman in the iconic film “Dirty Dancing” and for winning season 11 of “Dancing with the Stars” last year. What you may not know is that she has battled chronic pain for more than 10 years.
One of the most important things Jennifer has learned through her experience with chronic pain is how essential it is to have good communication with your doctor. That is why she joined forces with Partners Against Pain® to launch their new program – A Hands On Approach for Pain Management. The goal of the program is to empower those living with chronic pain and their health care professionals with practical information and tools to better communicate with each other.
I was fortunate to be invited to speak with Jennifer about her personal experience and her advice for those of us who are also living with chronic pain. I spoke with her by phone and our conversation was videotaped, so I can share it with you in its entirety.
With her pain management plan in place, Jennifer has been able to stay active. Most recently she starred in the Lifetime movie “The Bling Ring.” She is also writing a book and will be a guest judge on the U.K. TV show “Strictly Come Dancing.”
You can access the pain logs, diaries, etc. that Jennifer mentioned on Partners Against Pain's “Tracking Pain” page.
I appreciate Jennifer's willingness to speak out and share her own personal experiences on behalf of all of us with chronic pain.
