Opportunity to Participate in Chronic Pain Study

By Karen Lee Richards, Health Guide Wednesday, August 15, 2012
A University of Maryland doctoral student in counseling psychology, who is doing her dissertation research on chronic pain, has invited our chronic pain community here to participate in a study to explore the effects of writing about chronic pain on mental and physical health.   It's encouraging...

Hi Karen,

This is wonderful news. I could not agree any louder than I am about any medical student who will take on any aspect of chronic pain as their subject of study. I applaud this student.

Two things to share with ou today.

I am going to participate in this study. from the sound of it, it was created just for me. I am a writer and will cherish this opportunity. I have partiicipated in many reserch studies such as this, but the writing componet is what drew me in. Thank you for sharing.

The second thing I need to tell you is that I received the pain wipes, am currently typing now with it applied to my neck. I'm being lazy here and will report back on the actual post pertaining to the wipes. I am impressed and I find the fragrance soothing as well.

Thanks again Karen for all you do.

Do you have to be an American citizen to participate?  I am Canadian, and would love to take part in this study.

Hi Bev – I don't think there is any limitation as to where you live.  The eligibility criteria do not specify or exclude based on location or nationality – only that you be able to read and write in English since that's the language used in the study.

If you have any questions about that or anything else related to the study, be sure to ask the researcher when you e-mail her telling her you're interested in participating.  – Karen

Hi Bev,

Thanks for your interest in my study. As for your question, you don't need to live in the U.S. to participate. As Karen said, anyone who can read and write in English is welcome to participate, regardless of where they live.

Best,
Katie

I am interested and can not find a link to throw my hat into the list.

I've had chronic pain since 2005.
