Preventing Adverse Drug Reactions

Most of us only think about adverse drug reactions when we hear about a celebrity who has died from a lethal mix of narcotic medications. But did you know that there are more than 2 million serious adverse drug reactions reported in the U.S. each year? Or that ADRs cause 100,000 deaths annually?

The problem of adverse drug reactions is serious. An ADR doesn’t just occur when two or more narcotics are mixed. It can be caused by incompatible combinations of one medication with another medication, a nutritional supplement, or even the wrong food. Some ADRs are mild, others can cause serious injury and even death.
