Friday, February 01, 2008 at 07:18 PMThanks for sharing your experience, Kimberly. Keppra is obviously not a problem for you and I'm glad to hear it helps.
From the figures the FDA gave, it sounds like only a very small percentage of people experience the suicidal thoughts from these drugs. But given the total number of people who take one or more of them, even that small percentage could still amount to several hundred thousand people. Glad you're not one of them.

Thanks for the information Karen,
Wow, that scares me a little when reading that....lol. I have been taking Keppra since June of 06. I do suffer from depression already and have for a couple years because of my chronic back pain and anxiety i experience. It only got worse when i was diagnosed with a seizure disorder unspecified but w/out an epilepsy. I took a couple different meds for the seizures but had many bad side effects until i was put on Keppra in June of 06 and it was the first med that acually gave me NO side effects! i think its a wonderful drug. Ive only had 2 small seizures since ive been on it which my doctor has said isnt bad. I have had to adjust my dosage a couple times. They'd check it with blood tests until i was at the right level. The right level for me was 500mg tablets and i take 2 1/2 twice a day. I dont feel as if my depression has gotten any worse being on the keppra, nor do i feel suicidal from taking it. I know everyone is different but i wanted to let people know out there, if they are taking any of those meds, it doesnt mean your going to be suicidal. Thanks for the info karen, its very interesting that those meds can do that to people and its unfortunate that people have to suffer with such side effects as being suicidal when your already suffering from seizures and for me, being scared everyday of possibly having a grand-mal seizure (or whatever they call it! lol)
