Finding Other Chronic Pain Perspectives in Online Communities like HealthCentral
Today’s Washington Post features an article about our very own HealthCentral and other online health sites. The article, “Seeking a Cure, Patients Find a Dose of Conversation Online,” discusses HealthCentral’s primary purpose – providing a place where you the user can have intimate health conversations on your own terms – as well as giving examples of how people have found help and encouragement on the site.
Besides providing good, accurate information on a wide variety of health topics, HeathCentral encourages community members to interact with one another as well as with the medical and patient experts on each site. The encouragement and understanding community members receive from communicating with someone else who has similar health issues is invaluable. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard someone say, “Just talking with someone who understands what I’m going through means so much.”
I hope you’ll read the article, share it with your family and friends, and encourage them to visit ChronicPainConnection to learn more about how they can best help you; or check out one of our other sites to find help for their own health issues.
