This week, September 8-14, is National Invisible Chronic Illness Awareness Week.  Sponsored by Rest Ministries, this week in September has been set aside since 2002 to raise awareness about the millions of people in the U.S. who suffer with some kind of chronic, yet invisible, illness.  The theme this year is “Hope Can Grow From The Soil of Illness.”

Featured during NICIAW are 20 conference seminars – four each day, Monday through Friday, at 9 a.m., 12 noon, 3 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. Pacific time.  Guest speakers will talk on subjects such as:

  • Assess Yourself: Find the Job You Desire and Can Do Despite Illness Limitations
  • The Civil Rights of Patients with Invisible Chronic Illnesses
  • Overcoming Self-Defeating Behaviors
  • Secrets of Paying for Medical Care
  • How to Get Paid to Blog
  • After the Diagnosis: The Journey Beyond

In years past, the seminars were done in a chat room style.  This year, they will be held using Blog Talk Radio.  You can listen to the speakers online and call in with your questions.  For those who find it difficult to keep up with discussions in chat rooms, this should method be much easier to follow.
