Many of you have had questions about extended-release medications.  Although many different types of medication come in extended-release form, probably the most frequently asked questions here are related to the extended-release opioid pain reliever OxyContin

The questions range from how much medication is actually in an extended-release tablet to the confusion about the multiple acronyms used to identify them.  Did you know there are more than a dozen different acronyms that all basically mean a medication is extended-release?  Then to confuse matters even further, there are mediations like OxyContin that have no identifying acronyms!
