Men Who Live With a Fibromyalgia Patient

I recently received an interesting letter from a gentleman named Maurice Clarke in Rugby, England.  He has started a new initiative in the UK – a support group for men who live with a woman who has fibromyalgia.  He calls it FibroLads.  There is a tremendous need to educate and s...

As my husband says "everyone has pain, deal with it"  We used to be so active and now I just want to lay in bed and die and he has no understanding at all about this.  I wish someone would email him and explain it to him.  When he had his heart attack in Dec. 2008 and had to have a stent put in, I read everything that I could get my hands on to help him.  Most of his problem is heredity but I was rearended sitting at a light on my way to work and have fm, 3 herniated discs in my neck and 4 bulging ones and scar tissue growing over the nerves in the middle of my back and more bulging discs in the lower part of my back.  I gained 60 pounds because I can't do anything anymore and it has just gotten worse.  It kills me everytime He says that phrase and I just want to crawl in the corner and die.  I wish someone could explain to him why I'm on 9 different drugs a day and am in constant pain regardless of how hard I try to do things with him to keep him loving me.  He doesn't even understand what's wrong with me...I just keep upping my life insurance so one day I will make that right turn into a tree and make him happy like I used to be able.  His email address is Dennis1228@gmail.com.  Please be nice to him he has had a hard life and I just wish I had him standing behind me instead of ontop of me.

Darlene...   dardarhundley@gmail.com   I really do love him but the pain of him not caring is worse than all of the injuries.  Maybe, I could get better if he only understood.D

Dear  Darlene, I am so sorry to hear that your husband is seemingly indifferent to your pain. I too have Fibro, Congestive heart failure, celiac disease. I'm in a tremendous amt. of pain at times, but luckily I have just recently married a man who is pretty tolerant of it all, so far. I'm the one that feels guilty for putting him thru it all the time.

Have you ever been on the HealthCentral.com depression site ?? I visit there a lot because it's an excellent site to blog on, vent, get advice w/depression symptoms , which it sounds like you are. When you are in a significant amt. of pain you are likely to be depressed as well, especially with no support system at home. Do you have any other family to be supportive of you? Friends? I don't know what I would say to your husband except "have some compassion, empathy & understanding ". Ande whatever happened to "in sickness and in health"??. Best of luck to you, Sioux.

I am a Certified Personal Trainer from Tampa, FL, as well as a person who suffered from chronic back pain.

Everday I work with clients who experience chronic pain.  I want everyone to know that most people can exercise with chronic pain, and with many conditions it does help.

You have to make sure you take you time to understand and execute the exercises the right way!

I hope everyone will at least take a look at exercise to help manage and reduce chronic pain via exercise.  For a better understanding and to learn how to exercise properly visit

I hope this helps!
