By Karen Lee Richards, Health Guide Wednesday, October 21, 2009
This Friday, October 23, one of the segments on The Dr. Oz Show is scheduled to be on fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.  His guest will be Dr. Jacob Teitelbaum, who has battled these illnesses himself and has written two books about them.  In the past, I've heard Dr. Oz say that it...

Thanks so much for letting us all know. I don't watch Dr. Oz & what he said on 'Oprah' I never will! But I will watch on Fri. thank you again. It will be fun to see how much time he gives this Tobic, probley 3 mins at the most.

His show is on at 11a.m. & again at 5p.m. or so my Cable Grid says, but they always 'mess-up', still I set the show to record at both times.

I'll be back on this site to read the comments or comment myself. What would we do without you, Thanks again. Hugs, Pegi

Since I live in S. Calif, the times I posted were PST. I think? Any way that is what my 'Cable Grid' said. Sorry I didn't make that clear, I'll just 'blame' it on 'Fibro Fog'...LOL. Hugs, Pegi

Hi cindi,  I'm afraid I don't know what time the show would be on in your area.  It's a syndicated program and is shown on different stations and at different times in different areas.  In my area it was on at 10 am and will be on again on another station at 5 pm, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be on in your area at those times.  If you download the listing on Dr. Oz's Web site, it should tell you when it's showing in your area.  Sorry I can't give you more specific information. – Karen

Dear Karen, I watched the Dr. Oz show this morning on  the J subject of Fibro, WHAT A JOKE !!!! He  has given more time & attention to hangnails than he did this subject. He mostly spoke about CFS and even then it was like 3 ll I can say is I'm glad he's not my Dr. I'm not even going to watch him anymore. Thanks Pie.

What a disappointment, I had called people so they watch or tape. Not a word about fibro. chronic fatique .....about the same. I felt bad for the invited Dr. who is the summity  he had time to say about 2 -3 words. Hubby has chronic fatique following a head injury, he too was looking forward this, but, we now know that my G spot is at the top of my palate ?? what, 2 inches back there lol..We had a good one, a big one and no one knows more about fibro, I had many calls about the G sopt tho.

Hope some one comes and talks about fibro,it is getting to be the taboo or a dirty word .

Just one word from a very experience insomniac with years of practice. As soon I had a sleep study and was rx'ed a CPAP I finally started to sleep. I just hope that people with Ffibro or CF get sleep study it is a life and sanity saving. My 2 cents.

Karen how could we get a summity to talk in one of these talk shows ?

I am not one watching much of these but at 3 p.m. I just crash I am too tired to even read so talk shows should be better than that if they want pple to watch.

I agree, Mariepi – the show was a huge disappointment.  I can't help but wonder when they actually taped the show because on Monday Dr. Teitelbaum sent out a newsletter announcing his appearance on the program and saying they would "discuss CFS, fibromyalgia and Dr. T's 'SHINE Protocol.'"  They didn't even mention fibromyalgia or Dr. T's SHINE protocol.  In fact, as you noted, Dr. T barely had a chance to say anything.

And don't get me started on the erroneous information about CFS.  Actually, right now I'm giving serious thought to doing another SharePost to correct the misinformation and clarify the difference between chronic fatigue and chronic fatigue syndrome.  He did a great disservice to people who truly have ME/CFS.

As for your question on how we get a real FM expert on one of the talk shows, I wish I knew.  We've been trying for more than 10 years.  We came close a few years ago.  When Gayle King (Oprah's best friend) had a talk show, the NFA was working with her producers to do a show on FM.  But before the program could be completed, her show was canceled.  Maria Shriver did do a segment about FM on Dateline a few years ago, which was great.  But unfortunately there hasn't been much since then.  I keep hoping since we now have FDA approved medications for FM, more people will sit up and take notice.  The fact is, it usually takes something shocking or controversial to get the media's attention.  I'm afraid 10 million people in pain just doesn't impress them enough.  But we're not giving up.  Someday it will happen! – Karen

I just can't imagine the deception of dr. T " a good friend of Oz" according to him for a chance to put light on ME/CFS and fibromyalgia.

The problem is that we don't hear much about ple committing suicide as a way to get out of pain. I heard once on a news that chronic pain don't kill ple the pain being "just" a trick of their brain ! ....So no need for them to take opiates and co. which on the other hand kill so many drugs addicts. I know a person who did commit the ultimate to get off  the pain grip , that person was a very active community activist a First aid and CPR teacher to name only few, before being struck by a drunk driver while he was assisting a women in need on the highway. He was with me at the pain management clinic, then they were not Rx'ing narcotics. Five years later "having his brain fooling him" in pain 24/7 he could not find any solace in the medication given or tx by the clinic,

One day during an epidural his heart stopped ! So that was out of question for him. I saw him going down slowley, he was the peppy one on tx days to become so quiet and sad.

Pain doesn't kill ple ?

I couldn't agree with all the member more, WHAT A TERRIBLE 3 MINS. I thought Dr. Oz would do better after his embaressing show he did on 'Oprah'. He just made more of a A** out of himself & Dr. T.

I don't watch his show & will never again no matter what the topic is. Is Dr. Oz even a Dr?
