I do know that laughter helps me alot. I love to laugh and it seems to cut down on the pain and gets my mind off of it.

Like the old addage says:  "Laughter is the best medicine."  How long have you been suffering with fibromyalgia?  How are you coping?

Keep smiling and laughing.  I really believe it is the best medicine  :-)

I have had this terrible disease since 1984.  I still remember the day when it hit me. Of course at that time I thought I had slept wrong on my neck. It was on a Sunday and I was drying my hair and felt pain from my neck go to my shoulders. It took me a year and many doctors for them to tell me what I had. One doctor told me it was in my head (he didn't tell me that again) LOL and then I went to a woman doctor and she finally told me it wasn't arthritis

(which I have now in a bad way-Fibromyalgia brings on all sorts of problems) it was Fibrositis. That's what they called it back then and no one knew what to do with me.

How long have you had it?  What do you do for it?

So it just hit you all of a sudden?  And it's never gone away?  I'm so sorry.  I do not have fibro.  But I am just amazed at the people in this forum and the hell they are going through.   It seems like the doctors either don't have a clue to what to do for their patients, or they don't believe that a problem really exists.  This has to be one of the worst degenerative diseases around.

The doctors really don't know what causes it, some say it's depression and others say a traumatic experience. I lost my dad in 1983 and I was a daddy's

girl. He was the first one in my family to pass away and I thought I took it ok.

Evidently not, that may be one reason I got the dreaded disease. I don't see how

it works on you but all I know it's terrible.

Unfortunately there isn't anything the doctors can do except try to lessen the

pain.

I had never heard of fibro being brought on by stress, depression or being traumatized. My father passed away when I was 5 months pregnant (1977). My brother went "missing" (still is) about 12 yrs ago. My Mother and my Twin Sister as well as stepdad

all passed away within the last 4 yrs. I can tell you that I feel 100 times worse when stressed or cold. I hope you have a tolerable day. I am 53 yrs old and my name is Pam. Feel free to write anytime. Don't mean to sound like I'm complaining,,just trying to know my situation. I'd like to try the new meds for fibro,,,but,,with no insurance,,my Dr. said I couldn't afford any of them. Soooo,,,it's the Lortab. It does take the edge off. Sorry for writing so much. Just feels good to talk to someone who suffers as I do.

Hello Pam;

Yes, I know how it is not having someone that doesn't understand. My daughter's

fiance looks at me like I'm nuts.  I am so sorry about your family!!

I also know about not having insurance. The last 2 years has been hell. I haven't

worked in about 3-4 years because I was a caregiver to my husband when he

passed in 2007. Then I tried to look for a job (even though I felt like crap) and

couldn't find one. I worked for Sysco Foods in Nashville for over 24 years and

they downsized and I was one of the 50 they let go. I didn't find a job for 6

months and then I worked for 11/2 years until Dwight got so sick. So I worked

with an attorney and got my Social Security Disability and draw $1413.00 a

month and my little pension from Sysco. I was lucky to find a free clinic downtown

run by Baptist Hospital. They were better than nothing. I also go to Centerstone

Mental Health locally and I pay $3.30 for 3 meds. I have to have something to

sleep and use ear plugs.  LOL  I also take Effxor and muscle relaxers. Where do

you live?  Call your local or state Human Services and see what they can offer

you. I wish I had money to send you for your meds. That's the way I am. My

husband one said if I won the lottery I'd give it all away.

My email is whitefox_ccm@yahoo.com if you wan't to email me directly. I wish

you good luck and let me know if you find out anything. The Lortabs don't work

for me at all. In the winter I used to go to the tannning bed and it felt so good.

I was the only one with a winter tan. LOL  I hate the cold and I stay in just

about all winter.  Try not to get stressed and tense up. I know that's hard not

to be stressed when you are worring about everything.

God Bless,

Carolyn
