Postponing Morphine Trial

Hello Everyone,

Through this site, I have learned a wealth of information and have met so many wonderful individuals who have been so kind to share their story and give advice to me.  I have also researched more about the morphine pump and I realize that it is a Godsend for many individuals.  Personally, I am very concerned about its risks.  Through one of the members on this site who happens to live near me, I have learned that my original surgeon, who did my two laminectomies and a spinal fusion, does morphine pumps.  Why then, did my pain management doctor refer me to someone different???  Aparently, the two doctors are affiliated somehow and there is no concern here for my best interest, I feel.  The morphine pump doctor that I saw basically told me that I was a candidate and handed me a Medtronic video to watch.  That video was disappointing as well.  It was a sales pitch and all of the important info was at the end which I just had to read.

I will be asking a LOT of questions Monday morning!  Needless to say, I will be cancelling my pump trial this Wednesday, February 2/13/08, and scheduling an appointment with my original back surgeon for a consultation.  Again, I thank each and everyone of you who have corresponded with me and provided your words of encouragement and wisdom.  If not, I would have gone through with this pump trial blinded.  I will let all of you know what happens in the coming days.  I will give it God and let His will be done.

Sincerely,
