Well, the ride up to Boston after all of my trips went very well and took no time at all. When i saw my surgeon, this time i had tons of questions for him. The first one was.. why is it that since last Wednesday i have had more pain? Is it the weather, or muscle spasms, or moving my mouth more, or the feelings coming back ie: nerves?? Well, he said it could be all or some of them. So, i'm on the right track.. i kind of figured it had to be one or all of those.. Now, he wants me to be more aggressive with my physical therapy. and he DID say that i will most definately have MORE pain in the next few weeks due to the aggressive PT, my eating more and more talking etc...
He wrote me another script for fiorinal #3, and asked me to use the moist Heat before i do PT. He is happy with my opening now, and how i am coming along. I told him that my left side was bothering me more. and it still felt like something is in my ear, and my hearing is still not good in that ear, yet: loud noise bothers me... He reassured me that all of this is normal. If i disagreed with him, he gave me more examples and explanations until i understood and was completely satisfied with his answers. (This surgeon is a wonderful man. I can say he is the best surgeon i have ever had.) Also, having been through this five other times even though they were all different operations, i remember now the similarities. I dont remember if i told you this before, but when they were putting in the screws during the surgery, one of them "ran off" and went into my palate under my tongue. When they removed it, the hole closed but now there is a tiny bit of bone there which annoys me and my tongue wont stay away from it. He told me that when i can open my mouth more, he will remove it. So i am happy about that. Such a little thing yet, my darn tongue wont stay away from it and it gets sore. All in all, i was very satisfied with how it went today, and i go back to see him in three weeks. Oh, i almost forgot. The other thing that i was worried about was that my teeth dont touch. He looked and said that they are lined up correctly and its only a matter of time before they are normal again. Apparently, when they put the rib grafts in, they make them a little bit longer as they shrink a tiny bit after surgery, and thats why my teeth dont touch. i am satisfied with that because actually, my side tooth on my right side is now touching, so as with everything else... it is a long recovery.. He also commented about my great attitude. I didnt say anything to him, but i think to myself.. "you HAVE to have a positive attitude, because this is so difficult, i would get myself all depressed and i dont want that. and also, i believe that we heal better with a positive attitude, so when someone says i'm so brave. i appreciate that, however, i have no choice.. "
Until next time.......
