Photography is the only way I've found to relax. It helps me to slow down and take the time to actually look at all the beauty around me. Nothing else asks me to look for the bee on the flower or to observe the textures and colours of... anything! When I'm looking for the perfect picture, I am freed momentarily from the pain and no medication or therapy whatsoever has provided me with relief. Even though the relief is all too short, I'm sure anybody who has endured constant pain would give big to have, even a few minutes of just feeling normal.

This picture is one of the results of my few minutes of normal. It is a picture of Tillansia over a Bromeliad that I took at the Botanical Gardens. The picture makes me think of myself because so often, I feel like I'm fenced in, looking out at the world, but not quite able to make out what's out there. Whatever it is out there, it looks peaceful, and its colours extend my moment of relaxation just a little longer.

I hope that it will bring some calm to your day.
