Looking for anyone that has had a metatarsal amputation?

Getting ready to have a metatarsal amputation of mmy right foot due to extreme pain from Diabetic Neuropathy, I was wondering if any one here on the forum has had this procedure? I would like to hear about recovery and problems? I am on Dilaudid IM and they say I should be able to come off the narcotics by removung the foot, please if anyone has anything to share I would love to hear from you.

hi...i am sorry, i do not have any info for you in this matter...but amputation caught my attention, and i wanted to wish you good luck on your surgery..this is such a drastic way to eliminate pain, but it must be what has to be done, obviously, because i'm sure you would not go to this extreme (sorry do not know anything about your condition)..so, good luck, dear one....and i so hope after this, you will never have to endure pain again...take very good care of yourself after surgery...cindi

Hi, I had a metatarsil amputation 3 yrs ago due to circulation bypass surgery that failed. Since then I have been battling nerve pain trying all kinds of meds. I just dropped out of prialt trial after 2nd injections, massive headaches and limbs going to sleep.Decided not to continue with after reading on Health Central the very bad side affects people were having. I hope you have pain free life after surgery and the best of luck.
