I am new to this site and at the lowest point in my life. I have lived with chronic pain for over 4 years. But my husband of 32 years has MS and bladder cancer threaten me with a gun and held me at our house for over 5 days. I have left and am living with our daughter and son-in-law. I feel...

Chronic pain is exhausting.  Only someone with chronic pain can really understand what you are going through.  I may be only 39 (almost 40) years old, but I can relate to the guilt you feel.  Sometimes (I have learned), you have to prioritize what is most important to you.  You mentioned you moved in with your daughter.  I have a daughter, and she is the reason I am still here.  My psychologist told me that if I treated myself half as good as I did my daughter, then I wouldn't need to see him anymore.  You have worth.

My best friend's husband has MS, and he is in a wheelchair now.  She's Catholic, and so she has not divorced him.  His behavior over times has been irratic.  She finally moved out, and she knows that it's best for her and her children.  Every day she feels guilty.  Guilt is a hard thing to overcome.  Talking to someone always helps.  If you don't have a close friend, maybe your minister or pastor could talk to you.  They help you see that there is still a chance for you to have a productive life.

Your daughter will always be there for you.  She is a person who loves you.  The people on this web site are another way for you to "talk"to someone that understands.  My name is Myrna is my email address is shaschet@comcast.net.

Please don't give up.  My story is different, but so similar in many ways.  good luck!Smile

I'm so sorry for what has been going on in your life. Please try not to feel guilty. Nobody deserves to live in fear. Maybe it is time that your husband needs to go to an assisted living place. Don't put yourself in harms way. Please be careful. We are here for you.    Scooter
