fibro/pain

By nan c Thursday, March 01, 2012

as i age and find more things wrong...i search out things on the internet and one thing i have found that is HUGELY underdiagnosed and sometimes leads to a diagnosis of fibro is gluten intolerance. i would like to suggest that everyone suffering with fibro check out the symtoms of gluten intolerance. i know a LOT of my symptoms match and i am taking proactive measures to find out.....wouldn't it be amazing to help our pain by simply changing our diets??? i am not far enough along that i have my answer but within 3 weeks i will. after really reading about this and celiac disease i found a lab that tests for gluten intolerance (www.enterolab.com) and ordered the test. i also am cutting WAY back on anything containing gluten/wheat. it's a very dramatic change in diet but if it helps it sure will be worth it :)

The cost of those gluten tests you mentioned are way out of my budget. If Fibromyalgia pain is really associated with gluten intolerance I would hope you would fight to have insurance pay for this testing and fight for further study.

There is no way I can afford these tests and I doubt many here on this site would be able to also. Insurance does not cover access to Naturalpathic medicine.

Your gastro specialist can and will test you for celiac disease and insurance will pay for it. Celiac disease is an autoimmunine disease and the only way to control it is through a gluten FREE diet-no gluten at all. You must be very careful to read all ingredients since weat products are hidden everywhere. This also means no

beer-ever. The change will take months since your small intestine is being attacked and needs time to heal  but hang in there and I promise you will feel tons better.
