Hi, I have been in chronic back pain for 20+ years.  I am considering writing a book about my experience.  I have had several surgeries and many other treatments.  The last invasive treatment was muscle injections.  After the injection, I went into cardiac arrest and wound up on a respiration for a short time.  It took a year for my heart to get completely back to normal.  (I had no previous heart problems)  Needless to say I am hestitant to try something invasive again.

I am wondering how other people feel about this issue.  At some point is it better to just accept the fact that you will be in chronic pain indefinitely and stop trying yet another treatment?  If so, how and when did that happen to you?
