I used legal aid. Now I am at the final stage where you have to go to the supreme court. I spoke to one lawyer who would not take my case. Does anyone know a lawyer that would take a case that is a the last and final stage? I have been declined everytime I applied so far.&n...

Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 10:49 AMHi! Hope this finds you in good spirits! oh ' and do'nt let that legality stuff keep ya' down because you have alot to offer in this life and I think if this in regards to applying for social security? It tokk me years and an attorney as well. They seem to have a golden rule about turning everyone down not just one or twice even three times and mine is in their book in regards to a muskoskelatal disorder since childhood! So I would say let hte attorney's do their thing and put it somewhat at a distance from your thoughts because I remember you have alot on your plate and some much more to accomplish in the days ahead! one good thing though is they will back pay you from the original date in which you officially filed and I personally know it is not any easier financially to live undeer S.S.I only the medicare stuff for surgeries and constant doctor visits! I went back to the University and followed up on my studies and pretty much had to change my whole life to accomadate my disabilty and it took some time and having people who care around helped.
I hope you have a good support system or group and well' here you always do.
God Bless

Thursday, May 01, 2008 at 09:14 AMThe stress dealing with all this stuff doesn't help. I think I did everything wrong . Besides being sick and in pain I worry about money a lot. I know many others here are in the same boat. soc sec seems to make it so hard that you give up. I try not to make all this make me more depressed. I really appreciate the good advice and good thoughts from everyone. thanks, daisymay

SSDI Support

Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 10:39 PMHi there!
You need to find a lawyer who SPECIALIZES in SSDI. I also am waiting for a hearing. If you got to www.thedisabilitydigest.com, you will find a list of lawyers who do SSDI work. Also you will find some very helpful people who will help you get your SSDI.
There have been lots of cases these people did where the applicant won on the first round!
The lawyer will not charge you unless you win. The fee is set up by SSA. They will get the first 25% of your first check only but NO MORE than $5,300.
I highly recommend you check out the site above. I wish I had before I even applied because there is a book there that you can get that will tell you how to WORD your functionality and illnesses in the forms. And the book helps you fill out the forms by showing examples.
My husband finally won his case on his second try but first application. Only negative is that they didn't go back to the date we set as when he got disabled, which was four years ago. They went back to just last year. But at least he won and will receive his first deposit this week.
He used an advocate rather than a disability lawyer and that was a BIG mistake. I got ahold of the CDs from the hearing and saw that the advocate was truly an idiot.
So go to www.thedisabilitydigest.com site and let them help you now.
