collapsed disc C-1

  • Hi- I haven't posted much and I hate to through the whole thing again but to make a long story short...I had my second morphine pump put in in Oct. and now they are saying I have a collapsed disc at C-1. Thought I was having  a heart attack, went numb on the right side , even the tongue for about 12 hours. Have been waking up with numbness and pain in both hands and arms. Getting worse and culminating to the whole right side event. Sorry for the short hand but being on the computer is extremely uncomforrable for me.Any one else been through this? The Doc wants to fuse it to my other fusion (2,3,&4) It was really hard on me and I am wondering if I really will risk permanant paralysis if I do nothing. Which is not possible any way because of the ammount of pain I am in. I can't stand, can't lay down. can't sit. Please read my profile and let me know if there are any more of you out there going through this???

Sorry to hear your problems.Maybe they could do a laminectomy and give you some relief. I am meeting with my surgeon on Fri. to set up a surgery date. The pain and numbness are getting worse so I guess I can't put it off any longer. He said I could cause permanent damage if I don't act soon.I hope things go well for you . Try physical therapy too, it helps.I envy people who can still work though. It makes you feel very useless when you can't.Hang in there.

    Hello Beauverre

I am glad you posted your question over here and hope you get some responses.

Your situation sounds horribly painful and the numbness is really difficult.  I experience a great deal of numbness in my extremities and have suffered with it for years.

I really hope they are able to do something for you to fix this dreadful problem....
