Monday, March 16, 2009 at 11:23 AMh oni karen, again i have to explain myself, i was SCARED of taking so much meds, and gosh, i would never, never think of selling them. i was oon so amny meds , ireally wasn't thinking straight, i thought docs would be HAPPY i went off a pain med, but i do understand what you are saying, about regulating my meds and i now know i probably shouldn't have done it . i wasn't overmedicating myself, i was undermedicating myself, if that makes any sense. i thank you for your response and believe me, i now take my meds . i didn't think when i was first prescribed that much, that i neede pain meds, i don't like taking pain meds, the hazy feeling you get (not anymore because i am on a much lower dose), the constipation, etc), but thanks karen, i kinda felt people were coming down on me for STOPPING a medication. have a good one, cindi

Monday, March 16, 2009 at 01:13 PMHi Cindi, I understand what you're saying. I probably wouldn't have thought there could be any problem with not taking enough pain meds either! I just wanted to explain why they reacted in such an unexpected way. Boy, people who abuse these prescription meds sure do make it hard on those of us who really need them. Glad you've been able to get your dosage reduced so you're having fewer side effects. Hang in there! – Karen

I know it doesn't make much sense to get in trouble for taking too little pain medication, but pain clinics have to regulate the medications very carefully. One of the reasons they get so upset if you take too little of your medication is that they have no way of knowing whether you're just cutting down or if you're selling it. That's why they insist that you stick by your contract with them so strictly. They could lose their license if their patients are caught selling narcotics prescribed by them.
