My name is Cheryl Robnett. I am a 61 year old wife, mother, & grandmother of three. I have a great husband, Roy, and two sons, Chris & Michael. Chris is married with one teenage son and two (just out of teens) step sons. Michael is the younger son and still lives at home due to his Down's Syndrome. He keeps the humor going in our home! I have suffered from severe fibromyalgia since about 1980 and have conquered three different types of cancer. Along with my husband and family, I am very involved (health permitting) with the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life program.
Endure
Some days it seems as if I'm lost
So deep inside my pain
That I will never shed my gloom
Or see the sun again.
I wonder "What is there to learn
Amidst this agony"?
There's something... promised long ago...
But it's so hard to see.
The pain destroys my conscious thought.
I struggle through the haze.
Like being lost within a fog
Or walking through a maze.
At times, I feel so much alone -
That no one understands.
And then the tears spill uncontrolled
To fall on pain clenched hands.
But always in my darkest hour,
Alone, in deep despair...
From deep within... a spark of hope...
Then faith, begins to flare
As I remember Christ, my Lord,
And His Gethsemane
And how He died upon the cross,
Especially for me.
He'll give me strength to carry on
If I but humbly ask.
Then, with His help, there's nothing that
Will be too great a task.
Now, slowly, from the depths I rise
As Father's love ascends
To fill my aching heart with peace
And love that knows no end.

I feel I am truly blessed by the support of not only may family but some really special friends. I also have the strength and support that comes from having faith in Christ as well as my participation in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Sometimes its hard to remember it, but I do believe strongly in the ideas put forth in my poem "Endure" which I wrote many years ago. I hope it lends comfort to others as well.
