It can sometimes take quite awhile to find the combination of treatments that works best for you.  I've had FM for 20 years.  I seemed to get progressively worse for several years until, one by one, I began to find treatments that helped a little.  Eventually I put together the right combination and am now doing much better.  No, I don't have completely pain-free days, but there's no comparison to the constant misery I used to be in.  Be willing to try all kinds of different options and don't give up.

I have been having chronic pain for almost 10 yrs. I just was dignosed with FM. As a nurse I understand how Drs. work. If your not getting relief at all, you need to change Drs. Cymbalta helped me. I'm also bi-polar and the antidepressent helped the pain but not completly enough to stop me from why I still had pain. I was fed up and went to my Dr and said "If you can't help me then send me to a pain control Dr, or someone who will help me. I'm sick and tired of bein sick and tired and hurting". That got him moving, looking for lupus, pofuria(Rare autoimmune disease) since my brother had it and chronic pain. The lupus panel was positve  and I waited 3 months to see a rheumatologist. I do have some minor issues which may become lupus but my diagnosis was fibromyalgia. He is just starting on pain management and I feel he has the qualifications for a good DR Gail in AR
