Here is my situation...
Last december I was rear ended by a SUV. I hit the steering wheel pretty hard. I was first diagnosed with Major Whiplash and sent on my way with Vicodin.
I was sent to an orthepedic surgeon who tried meds (muscle relaxers, vicodins, anti flamatory) but they didn't help much... After another MRI they found something suspicious around my rotator cuff, I was given a cortizone shot and scheduled surgery.
The Dr didn't find a tear but found that I had bone spurs pinching my nerves, so he sanded down my rotator cuff area and cleaned out all of the brocitus.
I was then given Perocet 5/325's... 3 weeks later I returned to work, when I went for my follow up-3 weeks later I was pulled back out of work cause I over worked my rotator cuff and was taken out again. 1 month later I returned to work again, but didnt last 2 weeks before I was taken out again..
I was referred to another dr. and she gave me Trigger Point Injections that did help for a couple of days but my pain came back again.. This Dr. actually said that there was nothing else she could do for me.. I was then set up with a Primary Dr. for treatment Chronic Pain Disorder. This Dr changed my meds, trying everything possible.
I went to a Pain Management Dr, my first visit was a waste of my time and money, he said I shouldn,t be on that medicine and sent me on my way until he could look over my records, 2 weeks later I seen him again. He said that he was getting something and threw me a gown and said "put the damn gown on,I'll be back" I was floored.....
He returned and he gave me 10 Trigger Point injections and told me in 2 weeks he would do 10 more... This Dr is an a**hole, ever since he found out i have a lawsuit he treats me like a dope head... He gave me a 750mg muscle relaxer and an anti flamatory pill....
I found out that i need a Referral to see another specialist, so i am waiting for my dr to get me another referral..
I am still in constant pain but it has decreased..
Should I just say screw it and continue the patch and the muscle relaxer and just tolerate the pain I have.. My dr said that I will never be OUT of all pain, is this true????
Please give me some ideas or explain to me how to handle this
I am so scared that my Primary will take my Patch away and then what will I do....
I really apreciate your opinions

Hi Big Chuck,
I agree, that doctor's bedside manner is pretty awful. I don't understand a pain specialist that doesn't agree with narcotic meds. Those of us with chronic intractable pain need narcotics. Nothing else will touch our pain. Those trigger point injections help me for about 4 days. Then I have to wait another month. I take narcotics, muscle relaxers and lyrica. Also cymbalta, partly for pain and depression. I still hurt all the time. Lately, I have chronic feet and leg spasms and cramps that make me scream out in pain. Muscle relaxers don't touch it.
So, I do understand. If he doesn't change his attitude about the meds (we have to put up with their crappy attitudes sometimes) then I would try and find another doctor.
Good luck,
Annie in TN
Thanks to all of the feedback I have recieved and the conversation I had with my PCP's office employee I searched the internet and found a great place for my Pain.
This place has an office in the medical building as my Orthepedic surgeon, and also where he had done my rotator cuff surgery and all of my PRE surgery MRI's were done.
My appt is Monday and they called me today to remind me of my appt time and I gave them the # to the imaging place where I just had Post surgery MRI of my Thoracic Spine.
It was completed on the 22nd and I still haven't heard from them about the results.
I called that a**hole of a doctors' office for my results and they said they have read them but cannot give me results, Friday the doctor will be in and he will be able to give me the results then...
I can't wait till Monday... I finally have some hope again...
