knee pain every minute of every day, (and night)

By StephBlatnick Thursday, April 16, 2009

Some days i don't know how i can possible handle the pain.  I cannot get doctors to realize the severity of my pain, and they honostly don't seem to care.  I'm not a success story, and so they want me to go away and quit bothering me with my problems.  I am living in misery, and that is not the way i intended my life.  i have a beautiful family who loves me and i feel like i'm ruining their lives also with my misery.  I need any help i can get

Welcome to ChronicPainConnection.  I'm so sorry to hear you're suffering so much.  Unfortunately your story of having problems getting doctors to understand your pain is all too common.  One tip that may help your doctors understand a little more is instead of just telling them how much it hurts, try explaining how the pain is affecting your life and impacting your family.  Give examples of things you used to be able to do that you can no longer do or can't do as well or as frequently.

Have you been referred to a pain specialist?  If not, I'd suggest asking your doctor for a referral.  If they can't correct the problem that is causing your pain, you need to get help controlling the pain.  Don't give up.  Keep looking until you find a doctor who takes your pain seriously and is willing to work with you.

You didn't say what, if any, pain treatments you've tried.  There are a lot of different options available.  If you'll tell me what you've already tried, I'd be happy to suggest some others that you might discuss with your doctor.

If you're looking for some encouraging and supportive people, we have an excellent support group in the forum called “The Daily Grind.”  It's a great group of friendly people who chat with and encourage one another regularly.  Just click on the current month and join the discussion.  Here's the link:
