Thanks.  I read your profile, I hope you find a good doctor soon.  I think I would start by calling every neurosurgeoun in the book and asking how long it will take to get an appointment.  If you have to wait 2-3 weeks, it's probably a good doctor & everybody wants to see her/him.  They will either truly understand and prescribe your meds that work, or atleast send you to the best Pain Management doc thats around.  I was lucky - my best friend is a nurse, her husband is a respiratory therapist and they know who all the best doctors are, they told me who the best was - and that's who I saw.  Like I said, the shots helped for a while, but ther's still a lot of pain.

Oh, I requested a TENS unit from my neurosurgeon and he approved it (luckily my insurance paid it 100%, because he said I HAD to have it).  It's been really great.  I have this wrap that has conductive things that I can rearrange (they're velcro) to wherever my back is hurting at the time - I control the concentration, I control the mode of stimulation.  There have been times that I wear it for 72 hours straight, (changing out batteries and showers not included).  It works by sending a signal to your brain that says "I dont' really hurt here" and your brain tends to believe it.  I will say that at first I would take a pill and wear it, and it was like I was 12 again - NO Pain!!  Now I just wear it when I know I'm going to be doing something that will hurt, or if I forget, afterwards.  Sometimes it just puts me to sleep, and I actually get the rest I need.  I hope you find help in some way soon.
