On Gabapentin

By Jalita Sunday, March 28, 2010

I've been prescribed Gabapentin for chronic pain syndrome. I'm not for certain if I have Fibro, so the dr just DX'd me with CPS. I can't be on Lyrica until I try Gabapentin. I've been on Gabapentin since Feb 25. I was taking 300mg in the morning, afternoon, and at night for approx. two or three weeks. Unfortunately, I started forgetting to take the second dose, so I just take it two times a day. I called my doctor a few days ago to ask him how long it takes for it to affect my pain. He said I should feel less pain in a day. Well I've been on it since Feb 25, as I said, and have had no relief and maybe even more pain. He just said ot incrase the dosage, so now I am taking 600mg in the morning and 600mg at night. I am not having very bad migraines or headaches. I dont get nauscious, but I feel this horrible pain in the back of my head and neck,  it almost feels numb. My forehead and eyes hurt as well. I'm just getting frustrated and depressed because I'm in so much discomfort. My doctor leaves on March 31, I guess I will call him and tell him the increase in medicine is not helping and is possibly increasing other pain on me.

Any thoughts on this would help me greatly and I'd appreciate any thoughts or comments. I'd  like to know how others are on this medicine. I know everyone is different, but I'm just curious as to how others are affected.

I also may have RA. I have terrible pain in my wrists/hands/fingers. I've been typing a lot today and my hands are almost shaking and they are in a lot of pain. I'm not convinced I have RA becuase the joints aren't swollen and my Rheumatoid factor isn't that high, but I still have to see a Rheumatologist, but that's not until JUNE!

Thanks for reading. I'm not sure where I can share my thoughts on the Gabapentin.. This is the only site I have come across.

So, about the gabapentin

I had the opposite problem. I was on the Lyrica but discovered that I had insurance issues so I asked the Dr for something with a generic. He put me on the Gab & I have been having nothing but trouble. I'm more sensative to touch & feeling weaker in my arms. I plan on having them change me back to the Lyrica when I see them tomorrow. I'll just have to pay out of pocket. Luckily I haven't been having any issues with head aches.

I hope you're able to get your Dr to change your meds before he goes away.

For some reason I couldnt get to this site all day yesterday.

Actually I'm going to write another sharepost.

Basically it's not good news.

Thanks for posting your comment, though, and I hope you get the lyrica.
