I usually have a fairly positive outlook on life; I love to laugh, I even have a joke collection! But my quality of life really sucks! I don't share my pain with many people (who wants to hear that?) Why did this have to happen to me? or Was I standing behind the door when God handed out the bod...

You don't say much about your history. Have you gone to professionals, therapists, doctors to see what is causing all these conditions? There are new med for psoriasis. Theres are many types of foot pain...what is your diagnosis? There are online sites like AFFTER on yahoo and many more. There is meditation, biofeedback, yoga, etc. acupuncture, alternative methods, allergists, meds, sleep analysis, I could go on and on. Avenues are endless...don't give up hope.

It is stressful just to hold your pain in and not explain you have issues. You can't pace, if you can't admit to some friends (pick them wisely) that you have issues and need to pace.

    Hi

I've been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia since 1993.... but have suffered way before then.

I have tried everything!  I try to keep up with research, new medications, etc.  I've tried physiotherapy, but have found that my pain really keeps me from doing much.  I do have a "chi machine" and my brother has lent me his "super radiant dome", and my Mom has gifted me with a "Therasage Far-Infared Healing Pad" (which I use almost daily).  Currently I am on a disability program, awaiting a new pain clinic's "whole therapy" program, the wait is for enough members to make it feasable.

I thank you for writing back. I don't often reach out for help, as I have become reclusive in the last couple of years.

    Hi Denise,

I read your story and I too, suddenly woke up one day and had "chronic pain".  I am only 51 years old and I've been dealing with chronic pain for just over a year now.

My quality of life has greatly diminished, as well as my overall health in general.

I have a terrible spine, with herniations up and down the whole thing from top to bottom, yet, I still cannot find a surgeon willing to say "Yes" to surgery.

I have been in all types of pain management programs, physical therapy, (which I am not very good at, because the pain prohibits me from even doing physical therapy!).

I am just on the net now, looking up for different types of pain meds.  I want to take a pain med, but not one that's going to "dope me up", if you know what I mean.  The Celebrix has so many bad reviews, and bad bad side effects.  I am going to look up Lyrica and see what they say about that.

Well, peace to you and good luck!  Like me, never give up searching for the answer that's going to get you back to your old self.  I keep on searching every day.

    Hi Cris

I have been on celebrix for about 5 years.  I keep the dosage to 200mg/day. I use it in conjunction with another anti-inflamatory, Tedrol @ 10mg x3/day. I have been taking "hydro-morphe cont" for pain, as it disolves slowly for a more constant relief.  I also take "atasol 30" with it (similar to Tylenol 3, different buffers, as the Tylenol gives me headaches).  I have a friend who has been getting some kind of nerve treatment having to do with lasering spine's facet-joint nerve endings... I'm sorry but the name of the treatment evades my mind at the moment. It helps for a period of time. For her, 3 years from her first treatment!

Keep on researching, Cris! Keep you chin up & I find laughter to be very helpful in keeping my mood good! Collecting jokes!

    Hi Denise!

Great to hear from you.  Thanks for the tips on medicines.  I will look them up and discuss with primary.  I have had one radio frequency treatment on my spine and so far it has worked in the one area where it was done.  (Burning the nerve ending).  Me too, as far as always trying to stay positive.  I have a family and importantly, a 13 year old boy.  So, my best shines through as much as it can, for my son.  Nothing we won't do for our babies, right?

I'll let you know how it goes after Wednesday, when I see primary, and discuss meds.

    Cris
