So, I've been up since at least 1AM & while I was dead tired all afternoon yesterday & went to bed early I was only in bed about an hour before I could no longer sleep. Then I guess I got about 2 hours more sleep before being up for the day. Sleep is a poor substitute for coffee it is said & it must be true. I wrote a gentleman about a job & put on the subject line of the email "is there a position available on your staff.." bless his heart, he was kind & told me to "stay in touch" lol, gotta love that. Then I get to the store (without taking my purse, just shoving the only $10.00 I have in the world into my pants pocket) & I get to the register with a jug of milk, a dozen eggs, some pop & --nothing but lint in my pockets. I retraced my steps, looked through the car, looked back through the house once home, nada. It evaporated, just like my mind & sleep schedule apparently! UGH. I'm afraid to try much else & it is only 9:45AM! I at least got my shoes on the right feet but that's about all I can say for myself. And here I thought teaching the parrot to say "bird-brain" would be funny, I didn't think it would turn into my personal catch phrase. To think the things I use to be capable of, now, I'm clueless what happened 15 minutes ago or last night if I don't write it down. Good thing they don't think this FM stuff & chronic fatigue is contagious or genetic since I have a half dozen kids! Well, I'm off to the kitchen for another cup of joe! As soon as I noticed your title, I was intrigued and had to read the entire post.
I too am really having a horrible time with sleep and the fog that goes along with FMS.
It's crazy! I cannot remember conversations, where I put something, I come out of the store and cannot remember where I parked my car and I panic, as all I want to do is get back home, for the pain has ramped because of the drive to the store and I could not even comeplete two errands.
The first time my husband & I noticed just how bad the fog was, when I had been delightedly watching the reruns from the past season and my husband would say, "We already watched this" and I would have no recollection of ever watching the programs before? It was a little scarry, I'd not been diagnosed with FMS but I had chronic spinal pain and I thought at first that the medications were ruining my memory. It was not until a year later that we realized that it was due to FMS.
Just recently I was advised by my mothers chiropractor to go to a Specialty grocer and get on three different supplements. I went and bought the supplements and took them strait to my pharmacy to meet with the pharmacist and have her go over all my medications and see if she had any problems with the drug interaction with the supplements. I received a "Go for it" and after three weeks of the supplements. My head is much clearer and even when I'm in the middle of a flare.
I'm still have trouble with the normal baseline daily pain/fatigue. But as of know, my head is clearer. It's only been three weeks and it says that it takes a couple of months to receive the full benefits.
