Baby Steps for all of us coping with Chronic Pain

By bzmomkfor Saturday, January 05, 2008

During my appointment I was asked if I'd heard of the Meiers' Theory, before (I'm not even sure if I referred to that correctly with my foggy fibro brain) (or lack of brain at all).  Anyway, a huge list of lab work was ordered for me & based on the results infusion therapy will be tailored to my needs.  Apparently there is a line of thinking that fibromyalgia & chronic fatigue are different gamuts of the same disease.  The thought is that even if we are eating healthy, for some reason our bodies are not processing the nutrients & minerals we need properly.  So then we get these handy dandy infusion therapies based on the lab work saying what we need.  I've read before about chronic fatigue being linked to a stomach virus of some sort so, while I'm done being a lab rat for test-driving new drugs I am more than willing too offer up some blood & try drinking a V8 or something through my arm.  Like I told the doctor, after 15+ years I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get my life back, I need to be able to take care of my family.  Unfortunately, as it is I practically live at the Pain Clinic so now with this added in, maybe I'll get my own room?  Who knows?!  Wish me luck & I hope that any information I've provided is helpful to anyone else in need of it.  I have to add too that trying to walk correctly (not on the outsides of my feet) made me feel like a teeny-bopper in spike high heals for the first time.  Ugh.  Baby steps for the old lady, baby steps for all of us in this thing called coping with chronic pain.   Be well & be blessed, love ~kat

Kat,

I am so glad to hear that you are feeling better and are receiving the proper medications.

I have had infusion therapy for my chronic pain and it has helped me greatly, and helped with my migraines which was an added bonus i was not expecting, so good luck to you with this therapy.

By any chance did you think to get your medical records from your old dr? I update my records twice a year for my home file. This way I can always refer to them when i see a new dr. and i carry them with me if i travel in case i get sick while away from home. They also came in handy for me when my family questions me about something, i can say here read it for yourself, this saves me energy!

I have been dealing with pain since age 8, so if you have any questions feel free to write me.

I to do arts, crafts and writing sometimes they are my best medicine. What kind of art do you do?

Hi Kat,

thank you for your words, that was really sweet of you.  Its funny that you used those two words, because i always said i wanted to leave this world with grace and dignity. lol

I am just glad that you know that you are not alone in this, there are many of us out there to help if needed, sometimes just knowing that someone else understands can get us through the day.

Well I am off, need to go get my monthly b12 shot. ugh

your friend,

lisa
