Thank you All For Your Support After My Ordeal With Dr. Snotty Pants

By bzmomkfor Saturday, March 01, 2008

I love how "Dr. Snotty Pants" is applicable on several levels! Anyway, my doctor said she didn't really care for him either & that most women didn't but most men didn't have a problem with him.  She is truly interested in finding results of his sleep study test concidering an O2 Saturation monitor on my finger overnight showed 49 minutes of my breathing at 89% or less plus 11 other episodes all in that same night.  She is my Pain management doctor & really feels that I have sleep apnea if I can put up with going through the rest of this, it should be with the physician assistant & offer good results which may be quite beneficial to me.  On the other hand we know of people who have just gotten their own oxygen tank & used it on their own at home with significant results & saved the $1,300 out of pocket expense.  I don't know what to think.  I do know that I thoroughly appreciate the out pouring of support from all of you about this irritating "doctor"  I got quite a laugh & enjoyment out of many of your comments! Thanks for that.  I did mention to my referring physician that I thought it was rude that he wasn't on the same page as she was when she was doing him the courtesy of reffering patients to him.

In other news I am 2 weeks away from having my 6th micronutrient-vitamin infusion.  Sadly I only seem to be gaining a burst of energy briefly the following day, but maybe once I can breathe better that will improve as well.

i had seen the pulmonologist on Monday, the gynocologist on Tuesday, the Nurse Practitioner for the infusion on Wednesday, got Thursday off & then saw my pain doc on Friday.  A busy week.  Sadly my splotchy red face is coming back & my funky tongue is also starting to make a come back but not as badly as before.  Just between you & me, I haven't been doing my exercises for core strengthening because it's too hard when I can't breath & also possibly have a broken tailbone from falling on the ice.  I was the proud & ever so thankful recipient of the Pain Clinic Doctor of Osteopathy's healing & Gifted touch to aleviate headaches though & what a God sent blessing that was/is.  Next week I go in for 2 tests & a follow up with the gyn. fun fun (NOT)  I felt like saying, "ok, drop your pants so we're even" but I didn't. He is a nice guy.

In the mean time sleep & making crafts even with my lil guys.  If you feel like seeing under/over medicated, pain induced imaginative works of um..."art" feel free to visit my etsy site: fibrofoggE1@etsy.com  The lady gulian birds lilting song is puting me to sleep but for the wwf wrestling in the boys room to wake me back to reality.  Love to all.

I truly can not believe that an O2 saturation was not performed during your sleep test. That should be a given. I had a sleep test performed and yes unfortunatley they informed me I had a severe case of Obstructive Sleep Apnea. My lowest O2 saturation during the night is 79%. So I sleep with 1 1/2 liters of O2 hooked to my C-PaP Machine. Anyway, the sleep test also showed evidence of Alfa waves, which are supposed to disapper while you sleep. Mine did'nt because of the Fibromyalgia. My Dr says this is proof that I have Fibro. Ok, now tell me how to treat the Fibro without narcotic pain meds.......Terri from KY

My regular pain management doctor ordered an O2 sat test over night & I was at or below 89% for 49 minutes with 11 other episodes of below 89% -the nitty gritty details were not given to me.  I cancelled my sleep study test because I just cannot see myself being able to wear one of those things & sleep, maybe a nasal canula or something but not that.  Plus I don't want to line the pockets of a doctor I dislike.  I am glad that you are getting the help you need.  I was actually at 84% while walking on a treadmill too.  So I guess I'm hypoxic as the doctor says with probable sleep apnea.

I am so sorry to hear that the medical proffesion seems to be failing you when you clearly need extra tests to find out what you truly need. By that I mean that your doctor has an apparent issue with being compassionate to you and your needs, and apparently you do not have many, if any other choices as far as docs go. I know how scarey it is to think about sleeping with some type of mask on you, but look, they have so many types to choose from. I finally found one that was right for me. And it is like I breath so much better with it on. I may look like an alien and my sex appeal may be low with it on but hey, I'm breathing at full capacity. I have had the same issue, I promise. I know it took me at least 4 years to find a doctor that had some compassion, as most doctors still do not believe that Fibromyalgia is a real illness. I clearly had a severe case of Sleep Apnea. My sleep doc wants me to have my tonsils out, thinking that they could be the reason why I stay sick all the time, the Ear Nose and Throat doc seems to think that if he took them out I may come off of my C-PaP machine, but not really affect how often I am sick.It truly surprises me that your doc has not ordered O2 for you. If you do not have a family member that can help you get things done then I suggest you get one, or get a friend to help you. I hope that you have some type of support, you will definately be in my prayers.
