Predicting the weather

By yerba Thursday, April 15, 2010

I have had random pain that is not in my joints for about 3 years. The pain is in my forearm, neck, the back of my hands and in my thigh.  I can predict rain and snow. I sometimes hurt right as the snow starts falling and then also a few days in advance if there is going to be a thunder storm or an accumulation of snow. I don't want to take any medications. I think it helpful to have this awareness. I'm not bothered by the pain. I think this pain is a result of the baromic pressure going thru changes due to global warming. It's just a throbbing pain for a few minutes then it passes. When the weather forecaster says there is a 30% chance of rain, I know that it's more like 99% chance. I don't think this has any thing do with arthitis  or any other disease.

YERBA, I do not know about the global warming part but changes in barometric pressure definitely can create pain or an increase in pain before a front passes. Here in OHIO with fronts moving in and out with the various seasons I have noticed my back pain acts as a weather predictor. Even though not related to any specific disease process it seems that anything involving inflammation (ie. arthritis, myositis , acute or chronic pain, etc.) temporarrily gets worse with barometric pressure changes. All we can do is grin and bear it! Hope everyone  is having as POSITIVE a day as possible!   DR.J.
