Please understand that this "new" drug isn't really new. They have taken two anti-depressants and combined them into one tablet. (An SSRI and a NRI) In studies in Europe a prevalence of induced MANIA has been found in people that take this drug. In other words, be prepared to climb the walls when you take this drug. IMHO, this is another slap in the face to Fibromyalgia patients just as Lyrica was. The side effects may outweight the good that this drug does.

I have been in a clinical trial for this drug and has helped me manage my fibro a with NO MANIA.  I am very pleased with the results!!!

After taking Lyrica and gaining 60 pounds in 4 months, I will never again take a drug without doing my own research. I appreciate posts like this, it makes it easier for all of us to consider the information available. (Now I know where to look for clinincal trial info, too!)

Any new medication that works is always super but to have them combine more antidepressants that may cause another mental condition is not acceptable.  Looks to me like "some one" still thinks fibro is all still "in our heads".

That someone could be the FDA?

I have been taking this drug since November 19, 2007.  This drug has given me back my life!  I was having such chronic fatigue I would feel that I was going to fall out of the chair I was sitting in, let alone make it to a bed to spend hours flat on my back.  I had such overall muscle pain that I could not stand one wrinkle underneath me, it felt as if a boulder was rubbing against my body.  The longer I am on this drug the better I am doing. And I was having paranoia and seeing black "smoke" in front of my eyes constantly.  The black "smoke" was checked out by an opthamologist and there was nothing wrong with my vision, it was coming from my brain.  There are always side effects to any drug and each person's body is different and reacts differently to various chemicals both from medications and from our own bodies.  I was one of the rare women who developed migraines when I was pregnant (25 and 22 yrs ago) and as soon as I gave birth, got rid of the hormones pumping through my body, I never had migraines again.  All life is a challenge.  I may develop side effects if I am one milnacipran for years, anything is a possibility.  What I do know is right now I have my life back again.  I still have minor chronic pain issues but on a scale of 1 to 10 the worst it gets now is a 3.  I take each day as it comes, I have faith in God (you may call it Allah, Yahweh, Buddha, or a Higher Power) and I am so much happier you cannot believe it.  Is my lkife perfect, not by a long shot, but is it better, YOU BET!

Thats just some of the research any of us should be doing before even thinking about taking the 'cure all'- 'wonder drug'.  I hate to say it but we all know there is no such thing......maybe someday, maybe this is it.  But remember before you put anything in your body find out about it first.

Excellent advice, C. Thanks for all the great links. To everyone...I'm sorry I was so negative about this drug. I just get tired of hearing it's all in your head, take this you'll feel better, and my least favorite, "We don't treat Fibromyalgia with narcotics." I told a Physician's Assistant that he had given me a "text book answer" and this is not a text book disease. My depression meds aren't working right now...can you tell??? lol

Don't apologize.  I too, have tried many, many drugs and found their side effects more delibitating while providing no relief at all.  We are all so different.  That's why there has to be many treatments available.  I absolute hate all antidepressants.  Their side effects are horrid and I get no relief from any of them so hearing about yet another one doesn't excite me one bit.
