Am I tolerant to my pain meds?

I have been on Hydrocodone for mild to severe back pain for two years, starting with 7.5/750, been on 10/325 the past yr with dose going up from 4 to 6 daily. I am finding I need to take even more on most days, meaning I run out and suffer for a few days before being able to get a refill. Is this a sign of growing tolerant? Anyone recommend a different med that will help? I find myself dosing lots of asprin to go along with it so I won't run out.

PS I am not a junkie. I just want to live pain free or at least mostly pain free. 54, male.
