I have a history of migraines and take Imitrex for them. My Dr prescribed me Cymbalta for my fibromyalgia pain. I went off my Lexapro to do this. I was on ths regimen for about 6 months. I became severely depressed and had migraines nearly every day. I had to go back onto the Lexapro for the depression and went off of Cymbalta. My migraines decreased to no more than two per week. I don't know if the Cymbalta caused my many migraines or the lack of Lexapro. Either way, I'm happier now and in less pain.
I have hemiplegic migraines and cannot take Imitrex or anything like that because they may cause a stroke. I lay for a week in pain so I don't cause rebounds. That doesn't work. Iv'e been to the Diamond Headache Clinic and Cleveland Clinic. I did find one headace doctor in Pittsburgh who cut my episodes down to twice a week instead of 2 o3 times a day. To us that is an improvement. But the headaches still last for days. What are we to do if we can't take any of these meds? We deserve relief sometime. Sorry, don't mean to sound mean. In alot of pain now. I'm really a nice person.
I hope B2 and Malic Acid bring you some relief. It is no fun living with chronic pain. I would also try the Deep Relief Menthacin cream for additional relief, if I were you. I buy mine at Costco -behind the counter - for $11.39 (Canada). They can also order the B2 for you. I buy the Malic Acid through my naturopath. Best of luck, migraine92!
So what do you do when the statins cause all-over muscle aches? I need to lower my cholesterol (very high) but I've tried 2 different medications (currently on Crestor 10 mg) & I have such incredible pain that I cannot even take the medication daily (take at night) as I cannot even function during the day as in too much pain so I'm not even able to take it daily to see if it even works!
Is there something else that is effective, but not a statin?
Already eat oatmeal, do other dietary things but having a hard time exercising due to all-over body pain & have also chronic pain issues that neurologist, pain management doc & surgeon (had 2 hand surgeries & 1 foot surgery in last 1.5 years) think might be "chronic regional pain syndrome."
I am getting a lumbar steroid injection in 2 days due to incredible back pain & foot pain increasing after surgery for plantar fasciitis on 4/4/12. Foot pain is not consistent w/what I had surgery for (had same surgery on other foot for same condition & it was successfrul 15 years ago) & pain is increasing instead of decreasing (x-rays show no injuries but it feels like my ankle has been badly sprained & it is swollen & very painful to the touch).
Have also have very bad back pain due to degenerative disc disease & bulging discs, herniated discs & some kind of "tear." These have been found in MRIs & surgery is not an option (also have arthritis).
I have enough pain in my life (hand pain is so intense that I need to wear gloves practically all the time & had to quit work 3 years ago when it suddenly started as I couldn't even touch a piece of paper). So I don't want to take a medication that CAUSES ME MORE PAIN.
Several years ago, I remember my mother telling me how much here arms hurt after taking the statin her doctor had prescribed. I did some research and told her to call her doctor about this. Her doctor pooh-pooh the possibility of the statin causing her pain. He finally changed the statin and the pain stopped.

Nothing to "pooh-pooh" about the fact that some drugs do cause pain.

So what are we with very severe migraines to do? Can't take triptans.
