Hello, I am new and have been living with chronic pain for one and a half yrs. I am 48 yrs old and am seeking a beneficial contact support grp.

Hi Cracker1 - I recomment www.chronicpainanomyous.com. I've been a member almost a year and the group is both supportive and inspirational.

It is a 12 step program which put me off at first, but even without being a literal "stepper", I feel I have benefitted from the group. I hope it will be some help for you.

Good Luck to you.

hello cracker ,

I too ,am living with almost constant ,chronic and debilitating pain..

I have been diagnosed with DDD and fibromyalgia....both of which cause extreme discomfort and all over pain..

I discovered a wonderful support group ,(on line) ,called Daily Strength..

Here ,many ppl have the same conditions and health issues we do..It`s an invaluable site ,where i have made numerous wonderful ,empathetic friends...they can both offer advice ,share their experiences ,and also understand just what it`s like to live with daily pain..

Hope this maybe of use to you....it`s been a life saver to me!Good luck,.,.and here`s to more pain free days!

Hi Cracker!  I was just having a look at your posts and i would like to share my experience with you.  I have CPS in the bowel, kidney, liver and uterus!  My pain is in my internal organs which means i can not have any one day when i am not in pain.  My internal organs are so swollen on the right side it looks as though i am pregnant on right side only.  Very ugly!  I am married with 2 beautiful girls and have been suffering this CPS for 7 years undiagnoised!  I was at the point of thinking i was going mad and that no one could help me!  I am on Lycra as Epilium made me like a Zombie and i couldnt function with the kids!  I am a pallative care nurse and have had to quit work becuase it is a main factor to my pain!  Life this year has been real hard!  I had a mini stroke last christmas and even though i too was on a walking stick and couldnt speak, eat of function properly my determination for this to not ruin my life has remained my true focus!  I am seeing a pain specialist, a pain pyschologist and i am trying so very hard not to use prescription drugs to ease the pain.  I get terrible side affects from pain relief and i just cant justify being any sicker.  I have had the hardest year of my life however, after years of operations (which i know now is a huge contributing factor to my pain) i am diagnoised rather than feeling like i am going crazy , no one could ever imagine how hard this disease is unless you have it, on that point my sister also has CPS in the spine and right foot after an accident at work.  Please know we are a little know community in the health industry world over! I am a massive advocate for this disease i tell everyone about it and i feel as though we will as suffers never be able to overcome the affect this has had on us unless you consider what you have in life that is important and live for that!  I am studying at the moment as i am so young i am sure you can appreciate i dont want to be "unemployable" for the rest of my life if i can prevent it and it also gives me something to stride for , as we know i may never work again.  I pray that you are coping with this pain and i would love to recommend a book to you , it has helped me immensely and has been my life line in understanding what is happening and what i need to do to control my pain management, i have found that you will not understand this book if you are not a sufferer and to me when i read it , my understanding and motivation was increased 1000%, i now know it doesnt matter if i have have good days and bad days all the time just learning to listen to your body helps, its called Practical and positive way of adapting to Chronic Pain - Manage your pain -  by Dr Michael Nicholas and Dr Allan Molloy .  My specialist has studied under Dr Nicholas and swears by it, in Aust a program was developed by the information in this book to help suffers.  I purchased it on Amazon as i couldnt find it anywhere .  This year was the first christmas i had with my family as i was able to get out of bed and that to me is a mile stone!  My children are 6 and 4 and seeing their mum in this state has been very hard on me and my husband to come up with excuses why Mum cant do or go anywhere.

I pray you are feeling well today and had a very merry christmas .  Lets stay in touch i am on facebook if you would like to contact me - Lynsey Foley.  We all need to stick together !
