Sick of Fibromyalgia Pain

By lou Sunday, August 22, 2010

8 years and it has gone from bad to worse. Most medications do not help as I find  side effects unbearable and doctors are too afraid to do anymore. I want quality of life. Iam not a drug addict , have never been addicted to drugs and only take them for pain. Iam sick of the stigma from doctor's and pharmacists.

Amen to that one.  I agree 100%.  The stigma on taking pain meds overrides the fact that some people need pain meds which are prescribed.  It seems all the world is obsessed with is getting rid of those "bad narcotics".  We only hear of the celebs that have overdosed or abused them.  We never hear stories about the people who need them to function with some quality of life.

im so sorry for what you are going through, but you are not alone. i dare say there are millions of us out here, each in our own private hell........and its so very wrong...... god gave us these drugs for the very reason we are using them. or underusing them, because as for me, if i werent so afraid of the stigma and being labeled a drug seeker, id pursuit better pain control. once you get 'dsb' in your chart, forget it for the rest of your life.......... (dsb is 'drug seeking behaviour'---- which is in the eye of the beholder so if you get someone on a bad day or they are a rotten provider than you are the one who will pay for decades or longer)  i so hope things get better for you and all of us.......... all we have is our hope ................sometimes that is so hard to even hold on to.

hang in there.

My doctor has put me on endone (it has been a success). I do not feel spaced out on it and it helps my pain and prevents the migraines (so far). I did not think I would find anything that would work and not make me sick or have bad side-effects. Thank goodness my personal GP does not think everyone who takes narcotics is a drug addict and I do not have to go to ER if I have bad migraines or pain only to be treated like s---. So hopefully it will continue to work in the future.

Thank you. I have also been using imigran nasal spray when the headache feels like it is going that step further and it actually worked! It Stopped it from becoming a migraine, I could not believe it as I have tried migraine tablets before with no luck. Imigran is a serotonin agonist working by narrowing the blood vessels in the brain (as migraines are thought to be caused by the blood vessels widening).

The packet contains 2 nasal sprays and if the first one does not work you can use the second one but it is not reccomended that you take more than 4 in a 24 hour period. SO if the endone does not get on top of the headache I take the spray (which is safe to use with endone). It's a relief when we find something that actually works and that is why Iam sharing this with you as I too have tried sooooo much ! I wake up a lot with headaches as part of my FM (I feel it is caused from my neck pain through the night) and it usually goes from bad to worse through the day. I use to use 2 x panadeine + 1 valium and 1 x anti-inflamatory and this would work, but as the years have past and they have beome worse this stopped working. Unfortunately I feel FM progresses to a certain point as we get older and like everything we have to change medications and how we deal with it. Anyway while it's working I will stick with it and take it a day at a time. I hope this has helped and wish you a pain free day. Lou

HI LOU!  THANKS FOR SHARING ALL THAT................ i am so encouraged by you and your wilingness to keep trying to get what helps you, it all matters when you have a good doctor who wants you to have a better quality of life..............fm is so brutal and nothing seems to last that helps............ im still finding many doctors dont get how we suffer so we suffer even more.......... but your example keeps me knowing that it is possible to have better methods and that someday i will find better help............... btw, i suffer chronic daily headache so i know how it can be.......................... i mostly have to just accept that when i move i can get a headache and dizzy.......... but i also now know your regimen and i will remember the spray and how it helps you....... im very happy for you!  thanks for the information lou................... Smile
