I can't function much before 12pm after the medication starts to Kick in, then I get like about 3-6h

I am living with Chronic Back PAIN, and I am at a wits end. Went to Hospital, they sent me home with a box of new pills, and now I am in more pain than before, on the old pills. How Do Serotonin Inhibitors Decrease Pain?

Does anyone know how SSRI's decrease pain? I have read that sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. But for me they did. However, the side effects are so bad that I cannot take them.
