Over the counter (OTC) drugs are ones that can be purchased without a prescription from a doctor, therapist, or other medical personel verifying a need for that particular product that is usually sold at standard dosages. The medicines are often regulated by pharmaceutical agencies based upon most active ingredients found in the product. They are considered milder versions of treatment when used according to printed directions.
