Q: Oxycontin withdrawal pain - real or pseudo?

My friend became addicted to oxycontin because of SI pain, found help for the addiction and is currently weeing off. She is now having terrible, increased SI pain. Could this actually be pseudo pain and a symptom of the withdrawal? Will the pain get worse as she continues to ween off the drugs or does the body somehow "stabilize" eventually?

The pain she is experiencing is that of both!

Stopping Opioid medication can increase pain signals to the brain and in turn will increase the amount, duration and strength of the pain.

Also, take into consideration the amount of pain that was masked by the Oxycontin in the first place.  Since she is currently weening down she is getting less of the Opioid to the pain receptors in the brain causing the receptors to pick up on the pain signals it couldn't before.

If she hasn't spoke with her doctor about this I think it would be a good idea to do so.
