We can't diagnose here but you could have something as simple as a muscle spasm in your neck. I get pain radiating up from the left side of neck up into my head when a muscle in my neck goes to spasm and I experience stiffness as well.  Ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatories may help, if that's what you have, as well as ice wrapped up in a towel for 15 minutes every couple of hours, massage (find the tightened spot and massage it), and stretching.

Good posture, light stretching and stress reduction exercises can help as well. We carry much of our stress in our upper body and head. You might want to see if you have a clenched jaw; if you do relaxing that can relieve strain on your neck.

Only a doctor can determine the cause of your pain, however. If the problem persists be sure to see a doctor. Good luck!
