angel107~ I have found that a long acting pain med works well for me. One that stays in my system for 10-12 hours because it is slowly released over time in  the blood stream. With meds that need to be taken every four hours I found that by the time that four hour mark was coming up I was already in agony again. Then it required at least another 30-45 minutes to enter fully in my system and the whole cycle was to begin again in another 2-3 hours. I was never in any state of pain management. Now thanks to a wonderful team of physicians and pharmacists I am able to manage my pain level and cope much better. I also had to come to an understanding that the pain would never be completely unable to be felt if I wanted to remain upright. alert, and active. Hope I am helpful in sharing what works for me. I have been a chronic pain patient for over 25 years and come from the day when no doctor would even possibly consider treating chronic pain, they hardly dealt with acute pain. ~ Tj ~
