I have had a Lumbar Facet Nerve Blocks scheduled for a Lumbar Fact Denerative what can I expect?
I was first diagnosed with sciatica problems no results. Second opinion was fybromyalgia placed on (Lyraca) did not work. Finally was sent to a pain specialist and I am now on the forth Nerve Block. This concerns me. I have pain and numbness in my right hip and right leg from disk surgery in "2002" for L4-L5 herniated disc problems. Now in "2008" the pain in back. Can some one explain to me how long or what nerve blocks do to help the pain. Pain medication works for a while but it's not a permanet fix. If any one has had this "Lumbar Facet Denerative" procedure please expand on this subject.
Thanks

I will be having my first in August. First they go in and deaden the nerves then send me home to do things that would cause pain to see how it works. The percentage. If that works then they will go back, burn the nerves. The Dr. said they do regenerate and heal and it could be from six months to eighteen months before that happens. When they regenerate and the pain comes back they go in and repeat it again. Works well for most people. The first procedure lets them know if it works and how well before they do it. good luck. Living with constant pain is no fun and really limits what you can do.
