hello, I hope this may help.  I have been having the same pains that your sister is having.  I have had it now for about 4 months.  to make a long story short, after many tests, stress, and doctors making me feel like I was making it up, I went to a pain managment dr and they did a whole body bone scan.  From this they found that my 7,8, and 9th ribs had separated from the cartledge that connects them to the sternum, and a 25%degenetive change in a disc in by back.  I do understand your frustration, and hope that this helps you.
