First I want to say may God give you the strenght to continue because you are me..for eight yrs.I have suffererd as well its not humane to live this way.Sweetie for me heat felt good for a bit but after because it is nerve pain in your leg the heat will make it so much worse not tolerable to any drug or treatment..Get a ice pack don't appy to your skin use a thin piece of material to cover it i just use a big ziplock bag..put it on your low back,,lumbar just above your tail bone ice for 20 mins 3to4 times a day go to bed with it you will get use to the cold,This i have been doing for eight yrs.had i not figured this out i would have perhaps taken my life..Do it today give it about 2 days see if the pain is better. If it is this will be how you will get by.this ice has saved me..I still suffer but I take my ice everywhere and with out it i would not leave my home,so try it if it helps use it like a pain pill every 3to4 hrs for 20mins and at bed time flat on your back lumbar just right above your tail bone.your feet will get cold so put on two pairs of socks as the nerves travel down to the feet ok..GOOD LUCK SWEETHEART,,LEAN ON GOD DON'T GIVE UP AND IT IS OK TO CRY AND HAVE BAD DAY'S SO ALLOW YOUR SELF TO HAVE THEM,GOD BLESS YOU,,KIMMY
hey kimmi i want to thank you, you blessed me with your conversation to this other person, as i read your message it was like you where speaking to me, i am a born again christain, i have the same symptoms and i have been looking for answer from God, and this morning HE used you to speak to me, may God bless you kimmi
Thank goodness I live in Canada where nearly every procedure is free, also most prescription drugs. I do not know where I would be if I lived somewhere where I had to pay for MRI's etc. Anyway, I have degenerative disks in my lower back and a small fracture that is pressing on nerves. These give me back pain and leg pain. I have tried many different drugs and have ended up with Oxycodon that helps with both pains. However, I did try Lyrica, as you have done, but it did nothing for the pain in my legs, which it is supposed to do re the nerves. Now my Doctor has me on another nerve pain for my legs which is also supposed to take away the pain, but that also is not working. Therefore, all that I can assume (and I am going to talk to my Dr. about this) is, that it is NOT nerve pain in my legs, otherwise why does not the Lyrica etc. work. Today I had blood work done to find out what else could be causing the leg pain. Back to the Oxycodon. I went through trying all the OXY drugs, Oxycodin etc. and this last one is the only one that helps me sleep and takes away the pain in back and legs. Since it only lasts for seven hours, we were trying to find something else that would help with the leg pain, so that we could cut down on the Oxycodin. If I have to stay just on Oxycodon that will still help me sleep and with the pain. May I sincerely suggest that you try the Oxycodon for both pains and keep switching until you find something satisfying. As I said, thank goodness I do not have to pay for blood work, MRI's , x-rays etc. as you do. Let me know if I can help you in other way because I know what it is like to live day by day with such pain and not much sleep.
I would bet you have problems at L4-5 S1 in the low back.
You have to have some stenosis that they don't see. My opinion.
Tim I pray in the Name of Christ thaat he will bring you comfort and healing.
Thank you so much for writing back to me. With having such a bad stomach I am not able to take alot of pain killers no matter if I eat something. I continuously vomit from them. Alot of stomach issues in my life to where I have been scoped and parts taken out along with horrible acid reflux. I truly appreciate your thoughtfulness in trying to help me. Let me ask you are doctors suppose to respond on here to our questions?
I truly appreciate your thoughts and prayers. It means so much to me. I wll definitley bring the L4-5 S1 up to my doctor. Is there some kind of testing that shows this that can be done?
YES THEY CAN SEE IT WITH AN MRI. IF YOU HAVE NOT HAD ONE I WOULD DEMAND ONE BUT ALSO KEEP ASKING THE LORD TO HEAL IT.
Can you see a Dr. taking the time off his very busy day to sit on the computer and answer questions? I cannot? However, there may be retired Doctors who offer help, to make them feel that they are still helping. Re - your nausear. Always have some ginger ale ready. Let it stand open for a while to get the fizz out of it, but keep sipping it when you are feeling like throwing up. I suggest you ask your Doctor about Oxycondon (not Oxycondin or any other Oxy). This is the only one that has not made me neasears and is only a very tiny little pill. You can also buy candied ginger in the stores and that also helps nibble on that through the day. I know what you are going through and today is one of my bad days. I not a young chicken (81 years young) but usually I can keep the pain down if I do not doing anything that might aggrivate the situation, like bending over to pick something up off the floor. Sometimes I spend most of my day in bed flat on my back, which helps. However, since this Oxycondon is helping me a lot I have had less time flat on my back. All I can suggest is keep switching those d---- pills until you find one that works for you. IF your Doctor is a good one, then he will realize what you are trying to do and go along with you. Why are you asking the question re doctors? Have you been getting answers from somebody saying they are Doctors? Don't forget, this internet thing is a wonderful, helpful source of information, but there are many people out there who do not have good intentions and you have to be very careful not to give any of your personal information away. It is scary what they can do with little information. As for me, well, same thing. Take me with a grain of salt until you feel comfortable with sharing. I am 81 as I said. Had six children (five adopted at birth and one pregnancy) now have 10 beautiful grand children from ages 8 to 27. I hope I have suggested something that will help you. I will be thinking of you and if I hear of anything else that could help, I will let you know. I definitely think though that you should try the Oxycondon. Best wishes. G-Ma (as my grandchildren call me)
Thank you Sabine :)
hi im annette i could relaet i have the same pain and iv been looking for answers my self i came up on cocckys not to sure on the spelling but something like that.and it makes sence look in to that n good luck,im also in chronic pain ,
I am in the exact situation. 7 Yr old, 20 yr old, 26yr old. and Im 41. I drive 2 hours a day and im at work for 9 hours a day. Every complain you have is the same for me. Im 204 lbs, 5"6 and my hips are so wide. im having a knee arthroscopy on the right knee, after then one on the left. I am praying that gives my knees and legs some relief. Then we will be discussing my back, which I am scared. I will let you know if I get some relief after my knee work. But with the many problems we share , I hope and Pray The Lord will get us through as he has thus far. I am a thyroid cancer, and ovarion cancer survivor. So I do know he is Awsome. I have had a complete hystoryctomy, and sence then it just seems as everything that could go wrong with me has gone wrong. Nice to have someone who understands....Hope you feel better.
To Help me please...I know of one thing that can help u. I have the same pain all day and everyday...in my legs. It is mostly my knees, I can't straighten or lock them at all. I can't stand good, for I am wobbly, but I still try to walk as much as I can...it is hard, but I push myself. Although, I have noticed that my muscles hurt worse when I use them, then when I don't. When, I don't use them...they stiffen up and sometimes, they have locked in the place I fell asleep in. YOWCH!! IT is horrible pain, when I try to pull it back straight. I usually hollar out, it is so bad, but I also can walk good, for I have to try to lean against everything or hold on to someone...and IF, I closed my eyes...I would lean and fall, if I am not careful. If, I sit for over 5 min...my hips, all the way down my legs to my toes will go pins and needles numb. I am mostly confined to the bed and I think, everyone around here has given up on me, but I haven't given up yet.
I sure hated to read it, for it made me feel like I could have written it, myself. The one thing that helps me is a hot bath too, but when u take the next one...try to get u some dead sea salt or u can even use epsom salts. Get u a hot bath running and put a cup or 2 under the running water, then i use essential oils too. I put a few oils in my bath that gives me an Aromatherapy effect. IT works too! I ordered my oils off of eb, but I am sure u can get them at some health store, if ur lucky.
The other thing that helps me is my bed. I am blessed with an electric bed that vibrates and I have to use it a LOT for my legs. because they drive me crazy with the weakness, burning, cramping and numbness. The bed runs almost all the time...I think. I have been diagnosed with Addison's, had Endometriosis, have allergies(just the basic things..mold, pollen, cats and smoke...and I smoke)~sigh~..but life is so stressful for me right now, in the shape that I am in...and I am tired of it. I want to get well. I am sick of being SICK!
I hope that those two things can make ur life easier, as it has made mine. I wish the best for u...and if u find the answer, for I would like to know myself what it is that u have, it could be the same thing that I got.
Take care and God Bless always.:))<3 Karen
PS. Have u had any kind of surgeries or procedures done for the pain? I was just curious if u have had anything in common with me, like that.
I went to a back specialist who required an MRI, who then sent me to an anethesiologist....got some shots in my back...but I had pain down my legs...he told me to try 325mg of magnesium....it has helped me...and I also told my brother who was having pain in his hips and legs, and he says he thinks it is helping him too! The doctor said it relaxes the muscles....or something like that. But just try it! I couldn't find 325 mg so bought 500 mg...took that for awhile, then cut in half. I looked it up in RDA and I think for a 50 - 60 yr old, the RDA is 425mg. Doctor said that maybe after building up the mg at 500mg...probably could back it down to 250mg a day.
Sounds like you may have a nerve challenge. This is a bit how mine started. I had 4 ruptured discs and only had leg pain as a constant. I never thought it was related to my back. Then the back pain started. I would get an MRI and see where the nerve damage might be.
