This is an autoimmune disorder that attacks the myelin sheath covering the nerves. Several treatments are available but because the disorder is fairly rare it's difficult to know which one might work. Because of that its important to find a doctor with experience with the disorder.

The prognosis is quite uncertain; some people get worse and some don't and there are often, as in multiple sclerosis, relapses and then rebounds.  The best thing to do is to try and find a doctor or medical group with experience with this disorder. Good luck!
