I was just discharged from a four day hospital stay, I was admitted for chest pain and right flank pain and edema. After all the tests were done and I lived through the chemical stress test; I thought I would die! The Cardio said the pain was being caused from my fibromyalgia. That scares me. I really thought I was having a heart attack. Cold sweat, nausea, short of breath and pain that I thought I was going to pass out from. Has any one else been diagnosed with chest pain caused by fibromyalgia?  I have a right ureter stricture, have had multible (over ten) stents. I know that pain; when your kidney is getting backed up, my feet and legs were swollen up to my knees. I thought I was in CHF or Renal Failure. I was so tired every four or five steps I would have to stop and lean against something. I am a Respiratory Care Practitioner so I am very familiar with these symptoms in other patients. Do the Dr's on this site agree with that diagnosis? I do not believe the right flank pain ws from the fibromyalgia. Not sure about chest pain.

Since doctors cannot diagnose online, the doctors here are unlikely to contradict another doctor's diagnosis without seeing you in person and conducting their own exam.  As a patient expert who has fibromyalgia and has been deeply involved in the FM field for many years, I can tell you that FM can sometimes cause chest pain.  However, the other symptoms you described that accompanied your chest pain are not usually part of FM pain.

I don't blame you for being concerned and questioning the diagnosis.  Some kidney problems can cause chest pain.  Since you've had kidney problems in the past, you might want to take your test results and consult your kidney specialist to see if there might be any connection.  If it were me, I think I would continue to search for an answer other than fibromyalgia.

This is very interesting for me to find now at this particular point.I've been having chest pain and upper back pain for the last 3-4 weeks, and I also have Fibro...have for several years.I've gained about 10 lbs the last couple of months,I retain fluid, and I've had a very irritating cough for a few months now.Especially at night when I'n laying down.I've been hurting a lot more lately.I HAVE been more stressed, though.Right now Ihurt through my shoulders and chest and upper back and back of my neck.I had a cardio workup done a few weeks ago and I guess it was ok...never heard back and haven't seen my primary Dr.since...wil in a couple of weeks, though.i hate to complain and feel like a hypochondraic when I see the Dr.I have to see about all of this though...I'm worried.I guess it IS possible indeed for the fibro to cause chest pain....why not?It hurts everywhere else!Frown
