Could I have Fibromyalgia or more
I have a question.I suffer with chronic pain, and am getting worse.I was born a Hypocondroplastic Dwarf who had Limb Lengthening surgeries when I was 13-15yrs old.Im 35 now.I STILL suffer from serious chronic pain.My legs, hips, feet and back.Been diagnosed with and I go to a Chronic Pain Clinic specialist. Im on Hydromorphone, and Oxycocet.Maximum dose.. but its seeming my pain is getting worse.Pain meds are only taking edge off my pain.Been on these meds for a few years now.Getting tolerance to them too. But I am wondering if I have FIBROMYALGIA maybe? I have MAJOR leg, hip, feet, and back pain. BAD Arthritis.I have limited ROMotion in my feet, and uneven legs, about 1-2inches.I have SO much pain thats getting worse everyday.I wonder if its more..like Fibromyalgia or something else?what do YOU think it could be?I know I should talk to a Doctor..but what kind? Rhumetologist? Im 35,but I FEEL like Im 80.I feel like Im going to be in a wheelchair soon.On bad days,I walk like I'm handicapped. With a limp, and stiff.Even in the mornings.Only time Im not in pain is when Im sleeping. Its THAT bad. What do you think it could be?just arthritis?or more? thankyou for your time. Jane
As you said, you do need to see a doctor. There's no way to diagnose you – or anyone for that matter – online. Just going by the symptoms you described, it doesn't sound like fibromyalgia. For one thing, it sounds as if most of your pain is in the bottom half of your body. Fibromyalgia pain occurs in all four quadrants of the body. FM symptoms also usually include extreme fatigue and an inability to get refreshing sleep. Here are a couple of articles on FM and its diagnosis that should give you a better idea if that could be what you're dealing with:
Your problem could just be the arthritis, but there may also be other things involved. You didn't mention taking any anti-inflammatory mediation. I would think, if you have arthritis, NSAIDs might be more effective in relieving the pain than opioid pain relievers.
You asked about what kind of doctor you should see. I would suggest starting with a Rheumatologist because you know you have arthritis and that is their specialty – and they can also diagnose fibromyalgia, so you should be able to find that out for sure. If the rheumatologist feels there is another cause for your pain that he doesn't treat, he should be able to recommend the type of doctor you need to see.
I hope you're able to get some answers and some help soon.
